Anna Vissi at Radio Active

11 September 2017

On the 11th September, Anna Vissi appeared on the Cypriot radio station Radio Active for an interview to promote her upcoming fundraising concert taking place on the 12th September in Nicosia entitled “Mono i ayapi”. As has become common, the reason for the concert is to fundraise for the Sophia Foundation for Children.

During the interview Anna talked about her trip to Kenya a few years ago to see in person the positive impact that the foundation is having on the less advantaged children there.  She also talked about her oldest grandson, Niko.  She also joked that another pleasant surprise would be a third grandchild that would take her name.

As far as business is concerned, she revealed that she will be performing once again this winter at Hotel Ermou, while the Nikos Karvela’s new opera is in the early stages of production and likely to be put on next year.

She also spoke about the fond bond that she now has with her musicians, the 11 piece band with whom she has been working with over the last 2 years in her shows at Hotel Ermou.  Together, they created different versions of well-known songs which will be heard at the upcoming concert such as the concert’s title “Mono i ayapi” that Anna herself wrote and produced to represent Cyrpus in the 1982 Eurovision Song Contest.  Lastly, when asked about her own personal favourite songs for her repertoire, she named the following 6: Dodeka, Mia ayapi fotia, Min psaxneis tin ayapi, Auti i fora, Den thelo na ksereis and Dromos.
