With the aim of recognising and awarding the Greek women who, through their professional achievements and actions, managed to distinguish themselves on a global and national level.  This new institution is here to embrace Greek women wherever they might be.

A panel of well-known and respected judges will make up the judging panel for the Awards to ensure a fair representation of the values of the GIWA Awards: Excellence, Validity, Respect, Productivity, Responsibility, Transparency and Ethics, while the element of public participation is going to enhance the transparency of the process.

Through the official GIWA site, there are a range of different categories for the relevant nominees: Art and Design, Entrepreneurship, Fashion, Finance, Hospitality, Lifetime Achievements, Science, Shipping, Social Science, Social Responsibility, Sports and Young Star Award.

Anna, talking about her nomination in the Arts & Design category and why she deserves the award, said:

“I feel bad talking about myself here. I believe that 45 successful years in the industry, the hundreds of awards, 35 gold and platinum albums, 3 operas, appearance at the 2004 Olympic Games, thousands of live shows in Europe, America, Australia and Africa as well as representing and fundraising for the Sophia Foundation for young children speak volumes for my path so far!
