When The National Star Met The Absolute Star...
Many people have likened the phenomenal Aliki Vougiouklaki with the equally phenomenal Anna Vissi....With good cause however as there is so many similarities and coincidences!
Talent, unmatched records, fanatical fans and sworn enemies, even the initials AV! Also of course the title of Star...Aliki being the National Star and Anna being the Absolute Star! However, a lot of people don't know that the 2 were very good friends in the 80's. You can see what Aliki said about Anna in a video shown exclusively by fannatics.gr, 20 years after the first and only time the ANT1 show "With Style & Imagination" was shown, presented by the journalist Margarita Sfetsa.

- Both Anna & Aliki took 1st prize at the Thessaloniki Film Festival. Aliki took the prize for best actress in the film "Mantalena" in the 1960 Film Festival, while Anna took the award for the song "As Kanoume Apopse Mian Archi" (Let's Make A Start Tonight) in the 1977 Song Festival.
- When Aliki was invited to Roula Koromilas 1996 show "Bravo" she said about Anna: "You have me for the theater and Anna for singing!"
- In April 2006 in an interview for the magazine "Life & Style", Anna was asked to comment on the similarities she has with Aliki especially the initials AV: "You can rate me when it happens. I wish i could prove I deserve this comparison but I still have a long way to go. I'm not talking about my age, but I need to also give other things that I've discovered slowly throughout my life".
- Aliki, Zoi Laskari, Nora Balsami and Katia Dandoulaki all went together to club REX to see the "Anna Vissi Show" in 1991.
- Anna's show at club Asteria in the summer of 1998 had a part dedicated to the songs of Greek Cinema, where Anna dressed as a sailor (among others) sang the song "Trava Mpros" referring to a scene from the movie "Aliki In The Navy". When Aliki's brother Takis was asked if Anna's show was an insult to the memory of Aliki, he replied emphatically "No!" and continued by saying that Aliki respected Anna very much as a person and an artist.
- The 1988 ERT show "The Show Of The Month" where Anna dances to some of her songs was filmed in the theater "Aliki" named after the star.
- Aliki's second husband, George Iliadis stated in the magazine Down Town Cyprus (Summer 2009): "If Aliki was reading the phonebook out, the theater would be full. If Anna sang the phonebook it would be the same scenario".
- Both caused reactions when they were given permission to perform at some of Greece's Ancient Sites. Aliki at Epidaurus Theatre and Anna and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.
- The first unoffical biography of both stars was written by Alkinos Bounia.
