Wedding Singers: 'Our collaboration with Anna Vissi is a dream come true'!
The Wedding Singers, who excite us with their music every Friday and Saturday at Anna Vissi's side at Rex and every Wednesday at K-44, spoke to Manos Kiapokas from athensmagazine.gr about their collaboration with Anna Vissi and Mairi Linta and their next career plans.
If someone said last year that this winter you would sing with Anna Vissi and Mairi Linda, what would you have said to them? Would you want to?
We even said during rehearsals that we wouldn't have believed what they were saying to us. For lots of reasons, but mainly because it's a dream come true. The collaboration is amazing, the programme has it all and we're having a great time.
How did she help you and what didn't you like about Anna Vissi?
(Chris): Everyone has their own opinion on this, but there is nothing that we don't like about Anna Vissi, it's an unexpected collaboration, with a perfect balance between professional and a personal level.
(Serafeim): I had never seen Anna live but from what I seen, and I bow to her for this, is her incredible authenticity. Even if it's not your type of music, you respect it and you're open to it.
And Mairi Linda?
(Serafeim): She brings an exotic air from an era that we can't even imagine! It's like watching a really good 60's film which makes you feel nostalgic even inside...and she loves us a lot!
After all this the dream continues? What are your plans?
(Chris): We haven't thought about that yet. We'll continue our solo appearances and maybe some other collaborations. Maybe we'll even follow Anna to some of her concerts.
So will we see you with Remos at Thalassa?
(Chris): I don't see that happening...We will try to do our own thing.
Wednesdays at K-44?
(Lambis): The wedding singers have been around now for 4 years and are 'stronger' than ever. Nobody can believe what happens at K-44 every Wednesday.
(Serafeim): Something that's interesting is that both are like a mix of each other, so we can 'marry' them together when we're performing. Rex at K-44 and vice versa, to a lesser extent however. Anna has supported us so much.
I noticed that, while the gallery and the balcony were full of people dancing to your music, at the first few tables there was a certain coldness. How do you explain this?
(Chris): People of another age perhaps, with lots of money surely, who are a little more restrained because that's how theyre supposed to be I guess.
(Lambis): In Larisa we call them 'kaltsatous' because they rest their feet on the stage and you can see their socks!
