Down Town reacts to Must's vulgar online article!

21 May 2012

In the cypriot version of the magazine 'Down Town', which was released yesterday, reporter Stavros Christodoulos gave her answer about the vulgar text posted on the channel of the cypriot journal 'Must' citing, amongst other things, the exact date of Anna Vissi's photoshoot for the magazine 'Omikron'.

We must mention also that the recent version of 'Must' was 'taken down' a few minutes after the posting, due to the many messages of protest by fannatics.

Read Stavros Christodoulos' answer as published in the Cypriot 'Down Town':

Answering the vulgarity

Indeed it's true that stupidity is invincible. In the same way that it is undefeated and malignant, especially when it eminates from petty people. I have to write this note because a journalist wrote on a portal that Anna Vissi didn't travel to Cyprus to mourn the loss of her father, but to be photographed for OMIKRON. There is an understanding that excess creates competition in our field, but I must admit that in 22 years of doing this job I have never seen such vulgarity. He was overzealous and eager to show off to his bosses, but he had to show some dignity and respect the grief of others.

Because the article was reproduced on the internet, I have to state the obvious: Anna Vissi came to Cyprus 1 and a half months ago, from the 27th to the 29th of March and was photographed in Paphos for the cover story of the magazine OMIKRON which was released yesterday. This followed the interview we did together in Athens whilst she was appearing at club REX. The death of her father coincided with the advertising campaign of the issue that was scheduled to be released during the week. Unfortunately we could not cancel the service as it was already going through the printing procedure. So this is for those who take enjoyment from malice and pettiness, captured behind the mask of a journalist. Shame on them.

P.S. Down Town consciously did not send a photographer to the funeral, respecting the wishes of the family who didn't wish to be exposed publicly at such a sensitive and private moment. As is famous in our line of work, as it is also in life, we are our choices.
