VIDEO REPORT FROM ANNA'S APPEARANCE AT BOZAR FOR THE 'CYPRUS UNPLUGGED' IN BRUSSELS!

11 November 2013

Shortly after 11 pm , and after we felt warm with favourite songs sang by Despina Olympiou andConstantinos Christoforou, the introduction of ''Chrissoprassino filo'' was heard in the packed hall of BOZAR. With this song - perhaps the finest written for Cyprus, as Anna said - she opened the last piece of the event "Cyprus Unplugged", an evening designed to provide practical assistance to institutions, young people and families in Cyprus.

"Music is the antidote!" Anna said, and for almost one and a half hour continued to sing and show happy after she had the opportunity to support this important initiative of Commissioner Androulla Vassiliou.

With her humor and fun she ''swept'' the scene, turning the theatre auditorium really into a big party with all people dancing and singing. But before the party began, she decided she wanted to tell us a story. Her own story through her songs. Her school years, her first songs, the first prize, the earliest memories from Cyprus, as well as how she met with Nikos Karvelas.

Somewhere there was the conductor John Kifonidis who said that there are only 10 minutes left to end this concert. It was actually ten to twelve and we knew that the building had to be evacuated on 12 just, otherwise a fine would be imposed. Anna without believing that she has so little time left, although she had prepared a plan for at least another hour, she began asking the public to choose which songs they wanted to hear. That was when the real party had started! "Den ine psema", "Agapi ipervoliki", "Treno", ''Ta pedia tou Pirea", and a number of favourite songs made us all a unity, and Anna the best hostess. No one could then stay seated. And so the theatre became a big concert with Anna and the audience to sing in one voice.

The night was also full of those funny and special moments. ''Ola ta lefta'' in an amazing duet with young Marino and his amazing dancing, Anna's discussion with little sisters Dimitra and Angela, and of course the musical intervention of Constantinos who impressed us with his voice and performance.

Anna certainly kept her promise and built a "hot night full of love". A night which reminded us all how an easy and beautiful thing is to offer solidarity, assistance and joy.

See what Anna wrote in the program of the event:

"I hope and pray today's evening and its aim to provide the very beginning, so that no one shall be deprived of goods of this world that he deserves."
