Anna Vissi against homophobia!!

17 May 2014

"I am what I am and I like it exactly as it is" - as Anna says in one of her songs, written by Nikos Karvelas.

Anna Vissi is an artist.... a woman with sensitivities and open horizons, as she has showed multiple times. She never hesitates to speak openly and support her views without fear when needed. Something like that happened a few days ago when Anna supported Conchita on twitter. Conchita is for some a bearded woman, but for some others she is a human being who has the guts to follow his dreams.

Today, on the 17th May,  Universal Day Against Homophobia, let's remember what Anna had saind back in 2011: "I would prefer it if homophobia did not exist, and neither did a universal day for it, simply because I believe that homophobia is a synonym to racism."

Nevertheless, many times Anna has been asked about her gay fans and who consider her their icon. Her reply?

"It's my pride to be a gay icon, because these people have an increased awareness of taste. Their inner world is more romantic, more sensitive, more dramatic. And I like the fact that I manage to touch that world."

She has also admitted that in case she was gay, she would openly say so.

Let us all be less judgmental and more human. After all, we are all human beings.
