Do you think you know everything there is to know about Anna Vissi?

1994
Anna and Nikos leave Greece and rest in their favourite city, London. Back to Greece plenty of rumors are spread about them as usual - they even say they are dead! As always the couple’s answers back with a brand new album...
1998
Anna and Nikos are misunderstood once again. They are accused of being Satanists due to the dark artwork of 'Antidoto'.
2001
Many comments follow the announcement of Anna’s new theatrical work that will be presented in 2002. Many are sure for the failure of the idea but the near future will not vindicate them.
2002
Hundreds of comments and rumors come out regarding Anna's comeback! 3D covers, sonorous titles such as 'Panic', double CDs and collaborations with Christos Dantis and Giorgos Theofanous. The truth is much simpler and may explain part of the 'unwelcoming' audience treatment for Anna's new album.
Various tv reportages want Anna to earn up to 11.000.000 drachmas. Of course all the other artists' earnings are far below hers.
2005
8/8/2005 Anna appears in Mykonos (Greece), having a new look for her live performance at the Coca Cola Soundwave festival and shocks us! The shocking factor is the hair style. She has shaved an area on the right part of her head and adopts a rock/punk look, compatible with the nature of the festival she is going to sing, but very unusual in Greece! She is going to shoot 3 music videos with this look: the international music video for "Call me", the clip for Nylon and the clip for "Erota i polemo". The last two are included in her new album which is released one month later!
2006
The dress, the English lyrics, the truck driver, the image of Greece as projected in Europe... It's business as usual for Greece’s representation in the ESC!
2008
Endless comments! About her professional (and personal?) divorce from Karvelas, about the end of her litigation and mainly about her comeback and new collaborations! Rumors circulate regarding collaborations with pretty much every single person in greek showbiz, but what we know for sure is that lyricists Eleana Vrachali and Mirto Kontova, as well as... Madonna's Pat Leonard (Frozen, Like a prayer) will participate! At least that's what Anna says!
2009
Should Anna sing songs by famous Greek composers at the Herodion for charity?
Should Anna take part at the Old Town Festival of Xanthi?
Should Anna talk so openly for sexual issues as she did in a famous tv show?
We are not going to discuss such issues here. All we are going to say is that, in 2009, after 36 consecutive years in the music industry, everybody still has something to say about Vissi, in order to share a part of the publicity that comes along with her name. Wherever she goes, whatever she does. And that’s phenomenal!
2010
In July another astonishing rumor lands everywhere. Vissi is preparing a reality tv series presenting her everyday life according to the first press publications, although the things get much different after an intervention by the star. Anna signed a contract with Alpha Channel for a 12-episode project called "Project: Anna Vissi" dedicated to her almost 40 year old career. The production and the main themes will be based in similar shows from abroad and its been agreed to be released on tv in spring of 2011...
Η Άννα για το rockumentary!
2011
On the 14th October, Anna spoke out about a particular part of the first episode of her show “Oso eho foni” that aired two days earlier on the Alpha channel.

We saw Anna visit her ill father, Mr Nestora, and mother and spend some quality time with her family in Cyprus. This provoked widespread topic for “discussion” among the lunchtime tv gossip shows following the series of clips that were shown during the first episode.

Since we are unable to express the truth and her own feelings on the matter, here is a text which, while it notably answers to third party rumours, is directed to her one and only Fannatics. She thanks them for the love they show her, both during the good and bad times:

“I am truly touched how you have all welcomed this new “project” of mine with open arms. Because I strongly felt that I gave it my all and nothing I included was “fake” and I had no other ulterior motive than to tell my story. It was there for those who were interested to listen and follow my life in a bit of a different way from what we have been used to…I was expecting these “predictable” negative reactions ( where would we be without them) and from the same “predictable” presenters or “social commentators” as they like to be labelled. It would not be in any way a reason for me not to do something that I wanted to do and was sure of with my hand on my hand. However, the truth is that I was really upset when I heard some people chip in with “nasty” and “poisonous” remarks regarding what they saw in the scenes with my father….It is as if being ill is a taboo subject, something heinous and bad that we must hide away and not talk about and certainly not show in on TV for Christ’s sake! Like everyone, I have a family with a father, a mother, brothers and sisters, relatives and a daughter. I believe it would be wrong of me not to show my father in my story who might not be in a position to be dulled up and parading and talking on TV but who exists, laughs and is happy that people are by his side to help and to love him. Not only did I not “sell out” on my father, as it was wrongly claimed, but I showed how proud of him I am.

Sorry guys but I felt I had to defend THIS as you can understand. I will continue to read what you write on twitter and on facebook. I feel am learning from you and gain more energy as many of you say that you do from me. There are so many of you, you out-number thev“bad” ones, you silence them! After all, I did this for you with great love, in great spirits, in humour and with many talented and serious colleagues by my side. You know it! So, I thank you and love it so much that we enjoyed it with such a passion, together!

Thanks for all the love guys!!
Anna”
In April, during Antoni Samara’s run up to the elections, Anna was asked about the relationship the two had many years ago. This question opened a whole new can of worms and questions that followed and was seen mentioned in the first episode of her reality show “Oso eho foni”!

Anna’s answer: “I was introduced to Antoni by Manolis Mitsias. He had just returned from his studies at Harvard University and was a really clever and sweet person. I am not sure if he still has this about him today because, as you know, politicians have a “sell by date”. If he has not “gone off” yet, he will make a good Prime Minister. Either way, today’s politics have already turned rotten. There is so much played behind the scenes that I do not know if this allows him the space to be his true self. I for one, met Antonis in another time in his life so, I am not able to comment on the Antonis we see today.”

2012
Once again this year, we saw the recurring topic of Anna Vissi’s tax scandal gracing the front pages of magazines. This time, an article in the “Ta Nea” (10th September) newspaper set tongues wagging, on TV, on the radio and in everyday gossip. The article showed information deriving from the taxation services which showed supposedly declared incomes by famous singers as normal people, incomes that were much lower than one would expect.
On the same day, Anna, through a press conference, cleared up the situation regarding the tax scandal as an individual through her different companies which separately deal with her record deal and her live appearances.
A good question would be to see if, one year after this article, there was a check on all the mentioned famous singers on the list or if their famous names were used by the Media outlets to generate a bit of frenzy and sell a few papers?
Questioned during an interview for a popular magazine about Giorgo Ntalaras and the attack he received from members of the audience during his concerts that year, Anna Vissi gave a reply that provoked varied criticism:
“There is always a cause, a reason for this but I do not know if I would chose this way. I cannot, however, condemn someone’s rage and what made him reach this point. I would like to understand why he has reached this point to throw a tub of yoghurt. As for Giorgo Ntalara,, I cannot answer your questions you know? I do not hold any good feelings towards him, on a personal rather than an artistic level. I respect him as an artist but I have a personal dislike for him and I am not scared to say it. There, I am telling you for the first time here. Sorry”.

2013
As with each time Anna is artistically active, the rumour mill builds up pace!

They started with her personal life when various TV outlets started questioning whether she was seeing her co-star, Nicholas Karagiaouris.

They continued with the – premature – rumours surrounding her return to the Pallas Theatre for the new season starring in new musical by Reppas-Papathanasiou.

They concluded with her rumoured role as a judge on Ant1's new talent show, The Voice!!!

As always, none of these rumours came into fruition although, this time, we have to admit that two of the rumours had some truth behind them. The writing duo confirmed that they had discussed the possibility of a new musical with Anna while, at the same time, she was in negotiations to appear on The Voice, something she later turned down as it was not something that interested her.
2014
We might not have had a new album this year but…we had had enough of the gossiping. It was as if someone had jinxed Anna and as result, the whole nation was talking about her the whole year.

The year started off with gossip surrounding Despina Vandi’s “secret” visit to the Panthion music hall to watch the “Ena i kanena” show. As soon as she posted a photo of herself in the audience, twitter went into overdrive with people presuming that a “historic visit” was made until the following day that is, when we learnt that the two singers never bumped into each other as Despina only popped by Antoni Remo’s dressing room.
Throughout July, the TV continued to bang on about how much money had been spent during Anna’s annual concert at Jackie O’ beach in Mykonos. In true “journalistic” style, well-paid TV personalities somehow forgot to mention how the money spent did not come from Greek paying guests but from foreign Princes and fashion designers who also paid to Greek workers’ wages. Of course, we are used to this type of petty journalism and quickly got over it.
The “exclusives” struck again. This time, the papers got hold of Anna’s application to the local council for damages caused by a flood in front of her house due to bad maintenance of the drains. The “valid” report did not concentrate on the damages of the singer’s belongings and, more specifically, on her gym equipment she owned.
Constant remarks on her financial situation came to a head on the 29th September during the presentation of her new show that was to be put on at the Pantheon theatre. She chose this platform to talk about comments made by the singer Michalis Violaris regarding how much money she earns.

Anna was pretty clear with her comments so, there is no need for us to add anything:

“Whatever the beloved Michalis Violaris said, whom I met when I was 12 and not seen since, I like him, I respect him and acknowledge that all that he has done in his work has, so far, been good. Many people came out of the woodwork and said a lot about me. They have the right to. Now, what their aims are for doing so are never clear. I am not sure if I should say that I am still “current” so they get airtime of the back of me or that they are just “not relevant” anymore themselves. This is not in direct reference to Michalis of course, oh God no! I have learnt to not care because, if I start taking too much notice of all the things that are written about me, I will waste precious time which I prefer to dedicate to things that are worth it my time”.
