Anna has to hide her real age (12), in order to participate in a talent contest along with her sister Lia. They manage to WIN the contest, which was organised by CyBC, the Cypriot broadcaster, singing "Anthismenes vissinies" (composed by George Katsaros and first sung by Marinella) and "O ouranos fevgi varis" (Stavros Kougioumtzis – George Dalaras).

Anna wins both the first prize of the jury and the national prize of the audience, at the 16th Thessaloniki Song Festival. The winning song was "As kanoume apopse mian archi", by Doros Georgiades and Sotia Tsotou.

Founding member of the Union of Greek Singers ("Enosi Tragoudiston Elladas"), together with other known singers.
1982
She is selected by CyBC (Cypriot broadcaster) to represent Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest. The song "Mono i agapi" achieves a record: It comes 5th (85 points) and it is the best position reached by Cyprus in the contest until today!

Anna wins the 'Female Singer of the Year' award which is received by her sister, Niki Vissi, since Anna is performing 'Mala' at the Pallas theatre at that time.

Soon, Call me peaks at #2 in Billboard’s Dance Radio airplay for the US, proving Anna’s international success, with a song played everywhere in USA and gaining airplay in 30 more countries around the world!

"Everything", Anna's new cd single, is released in Sweden by the local branch of SonyBMG and enters the official sales charts! It's a significant success, since the song stays in the top50 sales chart for 2 months, peaks at #7 in the Swedish music Control and enters all the radio airplay charts of the country! At the same time, "Everything" and "Nylon Euro Edition" are released in many countries worldwide (Germany, Finland, Switzerland, Austria, Ukraine, turkey, Taiwan etc.) proving the big impact that Anna's performance in the ESC had.

26th of March, Los Angeles, California! Anna Vissi is on the cover of the spring issue of the American magazine ALO Hayati, the first international magazine dedicated to the culture of the Middle East! The Greek Super Star-as they called her-was photographed exclusively for the magazine and gave a significant interview where she unveiled many of her upcoming projects.

On the 12th November, Anna popped over briefly to the USA to be awarded at the Hellenic Charity Ball as one of the brightest personas in the world of entertainment of 2011! As a thank you to the invitees of the Elios Foundation who organised the evening, she sang many of her biggest hits amongst which were “Treno” and “Dodeka”. At the same event, an award was given to Nick Cassavetes for his contribution to cinema.

Ceremony for her 40 years in the musical industry; Well, nearly 40.

On the 9th July, New York College's Educational Group celebrated the end of the academic year and organised a graduation ceremony in Athens in collaboration with other foreign universities in the group.

Anna Vissi was invited as a special guest at the ceremony in Athens and Pritanis awarded Anna with an Honorary Doctorate in Arts for her contribution to music!

Anna sang her hit “Ta mathitika xronia” acapella and advised the students to follow their hearts, their mind and their individuality. Referring to her career she said, “I am still on fire, I have more things I want to achieve”.
