Do you think you know everything there is to know about Anna Vissi?
1991
Making a dream of their whole life come true, Anna Vissi and Nikos Karvelas are ready for their first musical! It is a rock opera and the title is "Demons" (11/1991 Attikon theatre). The libretto is written by Stavros Sideras (additional lyrics by Nikos Karvelas), and the big production is a big success: the play lasts for two years. The musical masterpiece will be a reference point during the rest of Anna’s career...
On Demons
Two more sensational duets with Nikos Karvelas ("Sta 79", "O telefteos choros") in his personal album "O telefteos choros".
20/01/1991 "Rex", with Nikos Karvelas and Pavlos Kontogiannides. Anna is always the leader in her field and now prepares "The Anna Vissi Show", a unique production, in which every song is directed individually, as a music video, by Nikos Soulis. Anna chooses to have the most state of the art lights, coming directly from London, the "vari lites", producing 130 colours each.
Pavlos Kontogiannides’s (actor) presence, is another unique feature of the show. During his act he comments on politics and social issues, combining singing with stand-up comedy and theatrical elements.
Other collaborators: the group Bang, the trio International Connexion in vocals, Sandy Politis and Marina Skiadaresis. An international group of dancers supports Anna in her demanding show.
Critics glorify the show. DIVA magazine (1991) says: "When the intro of the song "Fos" is over and Anna appears on stage, the transformation is complete. Anna Vissi, the Star, the only Greek singer capable of bearing that title is in front of us. During the show, which lasts two and a half hours, she changes hairstyles and costumes 9 times, surprising and impressing us with every single one of them. Her live performance achieves nothing less than CD quality. She carries almost all the burden of the show, which becomes a party towards the end, when – alone on stage – she sings various old and beloved Greek folk songs."

There are two versions of the clip for the song "Ena sou leo". In the first (unreleased) one, Anna had the role of "Stella", played on Kakoyiannis's film by Melina Merkouri, but the final result did not satisfy anybody and was thus rejected!
"One is tired when doing things that he doesn’t feel good about. For me "Rex" was the outburst of so many years, as I was offered an amazing place, in which I had the opportunity to present some aspects of me I always had but had never shown. So, I never felt I did something tiring. Actually I adored the idea of doing such a show. I had always wanted to do it.", Pop corn magazine, 1991
