Do you think you know everything there is to know about Anna Vissi?
Anna hosts a radio program for the first time. This happens on Antenna radio and the title of the program is "Ta koritsia ine atakta" (The girls are naughty).
The song "Kleo", composed by Nikos, comes third in the Greek qualifying contest for the ESC! The contest was not live and the participating songs were presented as music videos, shot in a disco! "Kleo" is still unreleased today...
Anna takes part in the Closing Ceremony of the Games of the Small States of Europe – held in Cyprus- and performs the rare song "The only arms we need".
"At the end of the line, I’m satisfied. Of course I may rush and blame those who do it, but I must be doing something right if they want to imitate it. So, let them imitate me!", (When questioned about other singers who imitated her look or the music style of her album "Fotia"), Pop Corn magazine, 1991
1990
Anna’s success with "Fotia" is immense! She performs at "Diogenis Palace" with Lefteris Pantazis and she is the trend-setter of the Greek showbiz with her live shows! She appears on stage as a queen on her throne holding a sceptre, while singing "Fotia". The oriental styling from India is now in fashion, thanks to her shows and her music videos, made by Nikos Soulis at the time!
The stunning duet "Antistrofi metrisi" that Anna sings with Nikos Karvelas, on his personal album "Diavolaki". Nikos appears in Roula Koromila’s show ("Mia kalimera ine afti") in order to present the album and sings the duet together with Anna.
Nikos Soulis, Anna’s director, is dressed as Quasimodo for the needs of their new clip for the song "Fos". While filming he literally catches fire during a difficult to shoot scene! Anna is dressed as Esmeralda.
Anna accepts the proposal by ERT (public television) to present the Christmas show "Christougena choris sinora" (Christmas without borders). Amongst the guests is Gloria Gaynor and the famous pianists Stefanos Korkolis and Dimitris Sgouros. Anna sings "Silent night" with Gloria Gaynor (Stefanos Korkolis in the piano).
1991
Making a dream of their whole life come true, Anna Vissi and Nikos Karvelas are ready for their first musical! It is a rock opera and the title is "Demons" (11/1991 Attikon theatre). The libretto is written by Stavros Sideras (additional lyrics by Nikos Karvelas), and the big production is a big success: the play lasts for two years. The musical masterpiece will be a reference point during the rest of Anna’s career...
On Demons
Two more sensational duets with Nikos Karvelas ("Sta 79", "O telefteos choros") in his personal album "O telefteos choros".

20/01/1991 "Rex", with Nikos Karvelas and Pavlos Kontogiannides. Anna is always the leader in her field and now prepares "The Anna Vissi Show", a unique production, in which every song is directed individually, as a music video, by Nikos Soulis. Anna chooses to have the most state of the art lights, coming directly from London, the "vari lites", producing 130 colours each.
Pavlos Kontogiannides’s (actor) presence, is another unique feature of the show. During his act he comments on politics and social issues, combining singing with stand-up comedy and theatrical elements.
Other collaborators: the group Bang, the trio International Connexion in vocals, Sandy Politis and Marina Skiadaresis. An international group of dancers supports Anna in her demanding show.
Critics glorify the show. DIVA magazine (1991) says: "When the intro of the song "Fos" is over and Anna appears on stage, the transformation is complete. Anna Vissi, the Star, the only Greek singer capable of bearing that title is in front of us. During the show, which lasts two and a half hours, she changes hairstyles and costumes 9 times, surprising and impressing us with every single one of them. Her live performance achieves nothing less than CD quality. She carries almost all the burden of the show, which becomes a party towards the end, when – alone on stage – she sings various old and beloved Greek folk songs."
